Inscribed on plate 'L. SERCIUS. PAULIUS. ASIAE. PROCOS. CHRISTIANAM. FIDE. AMPLECTITUR. SAVLI. PREDICATIONE.' Signed and dated on plate with the monogram 'A.V.' above which is inscribed '1516'

A print by Agostino Veneziano after Raphaels Cartoon, now in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Agostino Veneziano ( fl.1509-1536)

Engraver from Venice working in manner of Marcantonio Raimondi . Early work in Venice from 1509, later working in Rome from c.1515. After sack of Rome, again in Venice in 1528, when collaborating with Serlio. The family name 'dei Musi' is revealed by Serlio's petition for a privilege in 1528; it is also found on the inscription on Bartsch 424. The latest date on his work is 1536
