Johann Hermann Knoop (1700-1769)

 Dutch gardener born in Hessen-Cassel where his father was hofhortulanus (gardener of the court) Johann Hermann came in the same position under Princesse Marie-Louise but was expelled as was said because of misconduct Then he focussed on hte writing of books.

Remarkable works by his hand are:
Jongmans Onderwijzer, 2 dln., 2e dr. 1769,
His Pomologie, of Beschr. en afb. van appelen, peren, enz., 3 dln., Amst. 1758, is still considered as a very nice work. The plates where coloured by the daughters of the famous publisher. Ferwerda.
